Resolution
A few days after Victor's death, Walton finds the monster in Victor's room, crying over his master's death. The monster explains to Walton his feelings toward Victor's and his own life. He has led a lonely life with no opportunities of happiness, and thus had no other choice but to indulge himself in his desire for revenge, leading to a life full of suffering. He then tells Walton that since Victor has died, he no longer has any reason to live, and he leaves shortly after to die alone in the Arctic. Later, Walton's crew decide to turn back from their risky voyage to avoid further endangering their lives.
Well, my unsympathetic master has finally
passed away. I can't help but feel a bit lonely
now, since he was the only link I managed to
make with humanity (even if he didn't care
about me at all). We both lived a tiresome life,
full of pain, emptiness, and hatred... Now that
he's gone, I might as well move on. Maybe
there will be a better life in store for me in the
afterlife...
